FIRE AT TAITA

HOUSE DESTROYED

The Lower Hutt Fire Brigade was called at 2.10 a.m. today, to a fire in a dwelling owned and occupied by Mrs. Amelia Quinn, Garden Road, Taita.

Mr. and Mrs. Quinn, an elderly couple, retired to bed about 9 p.m. yesterday, and early this morning Mrs. Quinn was awakened by hearing something fall. She then discovered that the house was on fire. By the time the brigade was called the five had a firm hold and this, coupled with the fact |that water was not available, made it impossible to save the house which, \#ith its contents, was totally destroyed.

The amount of the insurances is not available.
