' Colonel Bauchop, who was killed, onJGallipoli, was eulogised by >nembers 'as '.'one of the whitest men >m 6: ever-wore a uniform." Captain w. F: Bishop, president of the assbaaatipn| received the presentation, and jfeference, to' Colonel Bauchop was made.by Colonel F. B. Mabin, Major B. ,de B. 3randon, Mr. A. Esan, and JCr.-D.vWilson. .
Solonel Mabin said that he first met Colonel Bauchop during the South African "War. He was a strict discip.aharian,';bu.t was revered by all ranks. After .the . Boer War he occupied impositions in the Defence Force. \ wonderful. influence by direct contact .with' his. men was outstanding,^ Said \ Colonel Mabin. "He was «lWays approachable, and I venture to wv'tnat'had he not been killed at <JalJlpdll:he would have become one o< bur great Readers. . . . His death was a great.blow, hot only to New Zealand, but' to 'the Empire."
