■ - Women's Institute S-l i,^ ,^ st annual Picnic in the Knandallah reserve recently. The weather was perfect, and a most enjoyable time was spent.. Miss Maddever president of .-the. .South Wellington Federation, and members from Ohariu Women's Institute were present. - : Swimming and games were indulged .in, and the sports programme held during the'afternoon .was a special fea;ture of the day. .The. results 'were as ■follows:—Visitors' race, Mrs. Denham (Ohariu Women's Institute); senior (members' race, Mrs. Pender; junior members'race, Mrs. J. Ring; sack race, ilMrs: J.-Ring; -nail-driving competition, ■Mrs. Stanley; egg-and-spoon race, Miss L. Kettlewell; walking race (blindfold), Mrs. X., George;, three-legged race, Mesdames R. Watkins and K. (George; guessing competition', Jack Kettlewell: A tug-o'-war (members v. committee) caused much amusement and excitement, and resulted in a win for members, the winning team including Mesdames George, Hunter, Pender, and R. Watkins. Races were also held for the children.
Miss Maddever presented the prizes for the sports, and this brought a very happy day to a close.
