WANGANUI, February 5.

. Wanganui schools are to close in the afternoons only- when exceptionally hot weather conditions prevail, and then only after due deliberation by the head teachers, who must obtain the consent of the chairman of the school committee^ This will apply only in localities where there are no trees in the school ground, or nearby parks where lessons may proceed out of doors. \ ,

On occasions when it is necessary to close a school it is suggested by the Education Board in _a circular issued today that instruction; in swimming be . given ; where ; facilities are available. -
