CONCERT AT SEATOUN
The Seatoun Musical Society held the second concert of its fourth season last Tuesday in the Masonic Hall, Seatoun. Owing to the weather, the audience was small, but was appreciative, and the choir under the baton of Mr. D. Neill ' Keith gave a very creditable rendering of various part-songs, including a group of nursery rhymes by Walford Davies, two of which. "A Little Old Man" and "A White Paternoster," were beautifully sung and deservedly encored, also "Who is Sylvia?' set to music by Mr. Keith, and "Dashing Away with the Smoothing Iron" (Sbarpe). sung" by the men. "The Long Day Closes' (Sullivan) was thoughtfully rendered by the choir. The quartet, "Come, Gentle Night" (Keith), sung by Mrs. Pritchard, Miss Stevens, Messrs. .T. R. and D. 3S. Keith, jun.. was well rendered. In the part-song "The Sea Hath Its Pearls (Pinsuti) the choir was at times ragged. "The Londonderry Air" was another popular item by the choir. The solo artists who assisted were Mrs. Eamsoy. who sang "Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel" (Schubert) and "Song- of the Open" (la Forge); as encores she sang "Lorraine, Lorraine, Lorree" (Spross) and "German Slumber Song" (Anon.). Miss Nora Gray gave a fine rendering of "Plidden Treasure" (Yorke Bowen) and "Bright is the String of Words (Vaughan Williams), and, responding to encores, sang "Only a Eiver Running By" (Hopkins), "The Caravan" (Shaw), "The Cherry Tree" (Alma Goatley). Violin solos, "Meditation" from. "Thais' (Massenet) and "Czardas" (Monti), were played by Mr. Graeme Arson, who, in response to encores, played "Schou RosImarin" (Kreisler), "Old English Country Dance" (Traditional), and "Gavotte (GoßSec). Miss Vondersloot accompanied Miss Gray and Mr. Ayson, and Mrs. Rameey was accompanied by Miss Gray. The accompanist for the choir was Miss D. C. Heath.
C. W. Price and Co., 91 Dixon Street, will sell carpets, furniture, wireless set, etc., in the mart at 1.30 p.m. tomorrow.
E. Johnstone and Co., auctioneers, will poll office furnishings at their mart, S Willeston Street, at 10.30 a.m. tomorrow. They will also sell household furnishings at 1.30 p.m.
