PALMERSTON N., October 14,

A cycle race of a hundred miles from Palmerston North to Wanganui and back on Saturday decided the North Island professional championship. The winner of this honour is the rider, who puts up the fastest time, and he proved to be W. Lamberton (Christchurch), whose time was i hours 23 minutes off scratch. The race was won by G. Tufferey (New Plymouth) off 40 minutes, his time being ± hours 55 minutes.
