Sister Mary Nicolay, the '' Grand Old Lady of the Nursing Profession," T6ceutly celebrated her eighty-third birthday in Perth, Western Australia. She is believed to bo the only surviving nursing sister who received her training under Florence Nightingale. Sister Mary is now actively interested in the progress of nursing and gives much time to other benevolent work. When only twenty she enrolled under Miss Nightingale, and was the youngest of the last twelve trained by the Lady of the Lamp. Sister Mary went through the Boer War, and fifty years ago sailed from Africa to Perth to nurse leprosy patients.
