STOCK SALES

STORE SHEEP,IN DEMAND

Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the Fcilding sale held on Friday:—A medium entry of sheep of all classes came forward and met a good sale. The demand in the store sheep section was of a strong nature with a good clearance. Fat sheep were not so keenly competed for as was the case last week, nevertheless a good clearance was effected. A fairly heavy yarding of beef cattle was submitted, values showing a decline on last week's rates due no doubt to the fact that the market was over supplied. A light entry of store cattle was submitted and comprised principally dairy bred, empty cows, which sold ou a. par with recent x-ates. The quality in the dairy cattle section was on the whole of a low standard, consequently a dragging sale resulted with numerous passings.— Quotations: —Fat sheep: Ewes, shorn, 16s 7d, 17s Id, 18s 6d, 18s 9d, to 19s; woolly fat ewes, 20s 3d, 21s b'd, 22s 2d, 22s 6d, 235, 23s 6d; hoggets, 23s to 26s 6d; wethers, 24s 9d to 25s 3d. Shorn fat ewes improved in: values, woolly were slightly weaker. There was a good demand for fat hoggets at last week's rates. Store sheep were yarded in small numbers—the inquiry was keen and prices showed a hardening tendency.
