OFFICIAL MARKBFS REPORT
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated October 13, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—
Tallow.—Good demand continues at auction; 740 casks offered, of which S!K) sold at (id per cwt advance on. the prices ruling at the last auctions, excepting mutton, .fine. Present spot quotations are:— Mutton: Fine, 22s (3d; fair to good, 19s 0d to 21s (id, dark to dull, 17b Gd to 18s Gd. ' Beef: Sweet and/or mixed, 21s 3d to 22n (id; fair to good, 18s (id to 21s; dark to dull, 17s to ISs. Mixed: Fair to good. 18e Gd to 21s"; dark to dull, 17h to 18s. Gut, etc.: 16s Cd to 18s 6d. Hemp.—Manila: Market steady with better inquiry. "X" grade for OctoberDecember shipment sold at £13. Sisal: Market easier early this week, but firmer at the close. New Zealand: Nominally unchanged with no first-hand sales reported.
Apples.—lmports increasing. Home supplies heavy with big movement into cold stores. Washington and Jonathan, 10s Gil to J2s: Oregon.
