r-OTORING RESPONSIBILITY
..Special to the "Evening Post.")
NELSON, October 12,
Tho electrical engineer reported to the fortnightly meeting of the JN'elsMii City Council that an electric-power pole in the city had been struck by a motorcar, the driver of which went on Kris way leaving a live wire on the ground. Tho engineer stressed tho danger oi? such an action and suggested that a bylaw should be framed making it necessary for any damago to power lines to be reported.
Councillor S. A. Gibbs considered it would be infinitely better if the matter: was made the subject for inclusion in.i the general regulations, and the princi-v pie should not apply only to power lines-i but to all damage to property, whether| private or public, by motor vehicles. I
Tho following resolution was carried:—That it be a recommendation to the Government that all damage to property by motor vehicles be brought under regulations making it necessary for any such damage to be reported to the police and be made subject to adequate penalties.
