FIRE IN FRANDI STREET

Two fire engines attended an outbreak in a House at 23 Frandi Street, Thorndon, at 7.44 o'clock last night. Two leads.of hose wore brought to the house, one from Frandi Street and one from Grosyenor Terrace, and the blaze was soon under control, but not before it had caused severe damage to the rear of the house, a seven-roomed wooden one, diyided into two flats. Fire, smoke, and water did some damage to other parts of the house. The owner is Mrs. Janet Twiss, who occupies the lawer fiat. Mr. Pearce is the occupier of the upper flat. Through a hose nozzle striking his right hand, ono of the firemen, J. P. Meadows, of the Central Station, received a severe lacerated wound, necessitating attention later in tho night from the Frco Ambulance, and a visit to hospital.
