BANK RATES TO BE LOWER

The Commonwealth Bank announces a further reduction in interest of onequarter of one per cent, per annum on fixed deposits for six, 12, and 24 months. Overdraft rates on current accounts are being reduced on November 1 to a maximum of iM per cent. The Bank of Now South Wales and the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney are falling into line as regards fixed deposits and the new rates take effect today.
