APPEAL TO SYDNEY
In the interests of the potato growers of Canterbury a reply to a cablegram from Sydney quoting the price of potatoes there lms been 'sent to a Sydney newspaper. "The Pr-ess" states that the' jkjlowing cablegram has been addressed to ffte "Syd-
ney Morning Herald":—"There is an abundance of first-quality potatoes in Canterbury, New Zealand, available for export to Australia. Business impossible, owing to delay in removing Australian embargo. New Zealand public demanded citrus fruits which were imported from Australia under special permit. Our potatoes could be. shipped provided Australian authorities grant same condition!?. Agitation from Australian consumers apparently necessary." It 'is claimed that if exports were allowed fully £20.000 could be put into the pockets of the growers. It is also held that it is not too late for shipment to Australia, as previous shipments have gone late* in October and well into November.
