FUTURE OF TRADE
BRITAIN AND GERMANY
CONSIDERED BY CABINET
MISSION TO BEELIN
(British Official Wireless.) (Received October 12, noon.)
EUGBY, October 11,
The conversations which have recently taken place in Berlin between the representatives of the Governments of the United Kingdom and Germany on the question of outstanding commercial debts and the financing of future trade between the two countries were considered by Cabinet yesterday on the report of the President of the Board of Trade, Mr. Walter Runchnan.
It is stated that the Ministers a.ro anxious that the question of future trade relations between, Britain and Germany should be put on a satisfactory basis at the earliest possible moment, and the newspapers understand that Sir Frederick Leith Boss will return to Berlin within the next few days with broad general instructions as to the lines on which conversations should proceed. Purely provisional arrangements for the conduct of trade pending the negotiation of a satisfactory agreement were readied last month in view of the introduction of the new German exchange regulations, and in order to avoid a disturbance of trade during negotiations. The arrangement expires on October 31 or on the coming into force of a new arrangement, whichever is earlier.
