ATTACKED BY BULL
A painful ordeal was suffered by a young farm hand, ■ Mr. Cyril Martin, aged 22 years, -when he walked about seven miles on Wednesday afternoon, suffering from an internal injury caused by being charged and knocked unconscious by a bull, states the "New Zealand Herald." Mr. Martin, whoso home ia at 33 Collingwood Street, Ponsonby, was injured in the Waitakere Ranges, and, after recovering consciousness, drove the bull back to the farm of his employer, Mrs. A. Edwards, at Henderson. He collapsed on reaching the farm, and was later taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. His condition is not serious. With a companion Mr. Martin went to the Waitakere district to bring some stock back to Mrs. Edwards's farm. The cows were rounded up first and driven away by the other man, leaving Mr. Martin to bring a bull, which proved difficult to manage. It refused to go out the gate, and eventually charged Mr. Martin, tossing him into some bushes, where he lay unconscious for a time. When lie regained con-, sciousness Mr. Martin found that the bull had broken through the fence and reached, the road. In spite of his injiu"y, which was causing him considerable pain, he commenced to drive the beast to Henderson, and 'accomplished the seven-mile walk without assistance in about three and a. half hours. Once back at the farm, however, he collapsed and was found some time later. A doctor was called, and Mr. Martin was ordered to hospital.
