DAY IN PARLIAMENT

GAMING AMENDMENT BILL

Yesterday was -entirely taken up by the House of Kepresentatives in a discussion on the Gaining Amendment Bill, which provided for the establishment of the double totalisator and the publication of dividends? The Bill, which was introduced in the Legislative Council, was passed by that Chamber, but it met its fate in the House last night, when the midnight adjournment was taken before a vote was reached on the second reading, in spite of the fact that the measure was assured of a substantial majority. It is improbable that any more will be heard of the Bill this session. . ■ Today, the House is to take further classes of the Estimates, and if the programme is carried through, ten classes only will remain for consideration. The Supplementary Estimates, however, have still to be brought down.
