PIKE'S SUSPENSION

AND LIMARCH'S INJURY

(From "Vedette.") V. . ';■■ ■-.-.. SYDNEY, October 5. The Spring Stakes at Randwiek on Saturday was 'a/disastrous race for. J. E. Pike and J. T..Jamieson. Out of the, one incident Pike lost his riding licence for two months and Jamiesou the .services of Limarch: ' .

Half-way down the straight Peter Pan. (Pike) ran up on the outside of the leader Oro, inside of whom was Limarch. Peter Pan was not racing generously, as he has done on previous occasions, and he lugged in on Oro, who almost had Limarch over the rails. Limarch was cut about and he wrenched his shoulder badly. He could not run in -the Metropolitan, and Jamieson is in grave doubt about his later, prosjjects. '..-- The stewards, viewed the matter seriously, and for not controlling his mount adequately Pike was suspended. This means he forfeits the rides on Peter Pan and Chatham, and J. Munro is to be the substitute. ■ ■ The Spring Stakes was a decisive win for Rogilla. When Peter. Pan had. settled Oro and Limarch he looked a clear-cut winner, but Rogilla was sweeping up oh the outside. Putting,,in > those, telling strides he drew up. to. and past Peter Pan, winning-handsomely. It is/possible Peter Pan is .becoming, sour, for he curled up when tackled vby Rogilla. With a five-year-old stallion this can be expected.
