STOLE FROM AUCTION MARTS
Twelve charges of theft from, shops and auction marts were brought against Gilbert Henry Lyster, aged 46, a carpenter, in the Magistrate's Court today, and he pleaded guilty to them all. Mr. AY. 3?. Stihvell, S.M., convicted him and ordered him to come up for sentence within two years if called upon. He ordered restitution to be made and the stolen goods to be given back to their owners.
The accused was arrested by Detective Burke, said Detective-Sergeant T. Y. Hall. He had been in the habit of going to shops and auction marts and taking smf.ll articles which he sold to second-hand dealers. In all he sold 66 articles to dealers in .six weeks, using fictitious names. He received 33s 6d for the articles mentioned in _ the charges. He was a married man Hying apart from his family, and the detec-tive-sergeant's information was that he had been drinking excessively. Mr. J. A. Scott made, a plea for leniency, but the Probation Officer (Mr. T. P. Mills) said he could not recommend probation.
