KINGSFORD SMITH DERNITE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, May o.
: Surprise was expressed by Sir Charles' Kingsfoid ■Smith, that reports had been circulated stating that the-. Codock monoplane was to leave New South Wales today for.its flight to New Zealand. -•■-■'...
"It is no use joy-riding .across'-'the Tasuian in, winter," he said. "The ;maehine has been thoroughly tested and found .satisfactory in every way, but it will not bo brought to New Zealand until Dominion Airways aro ready to take it into service. We cannot afford to send the machine across on 'spec. 1 The last tests were made only two days before.-I left."
Sir Charles, expressed the opinion that the time was . fast approaching when there would l>e a trans-Tasman passenger and mail air service; but it would be necessary to organise an allNew Zealand service first, so that mails could foe given rapid distribution when they ar-rived in. the- Dominion.
