£ ( .According to tho forecast issued at noon today, tlio weather will bo fine in .the western districts of the South' [Island, but elsewhere it will be changeable with scattered showers, although (improving except between HawKe's Bay and; Hast 'Cape.; Moderate' to strong but gradually, decreasing winds are expected, and temperatures will be cold with frosts inland.

Tho cyclone, which was responsible for tho recent general rains moved slowly to the east during the weekend. Pressures are still rather low to the east, but havo been rising over New Zealand with tho advajice of. an intense anticyclone across the Tasman Sea. Both on Saturday and yesterday the weather was dull, misty, and wot generally, further heavy rain falling on the East Coast of tho South Island.-.'-Mod-erate to strong southerly winds have prevailed and temperatures have been cold everywhere, but this, morning, however, although showers wore still reported in many places, conditions | generally had' much improved. Auckland had a cold, unsettled weekend, a freslr-westerly to south-westerly wind blowing. , Frequent showers fell | during Saturday, but yesterday .there were intervals of sunshine between I light showers. • i

At Wellington it was a dull, miserable day on Saturday with a strong southerly wind. Bain fell during the afternoon. The southerly moderated during tho night, and yesterday morning it was practically calm. Misty rain fell throughout tho day, and a southerly sprang up/again in.the afternoon. .-The rainfall at Wellington on Saturday was 8 points, and at Lower Hutt 46 points, and yesterday in Wellington the "rainfall was 27 points and at Lower Hutt 19 points.

In Ohristchurch on Saturday there was practically continuous" rain with a strong south-westerly wind. The.total fall was S9 points. The wind dropped during tho evening, and yesterday a light south-westerly wind prevailed with occasional showers. Heavy rain, however, ifell during last night, tho total being 91 points.
