The next two overs yielded two more victims to O'Reilly. The batsmen obviously,knew little of his intentions. Having bowled unchanged for two hours, O'Reilly was taken off at 124. McCabe and ITleetwood-Smith shared .the last three - wickets. Leicester's innings occupied 190 minutes. O'Reilly's bowling was really great, his average being seven for 3!). After lunch,- Brown and Ponsford opened quietly for Australia, but with the total at 22 Ponsford went leg-be-fore. Bradman gave an early chance in. the slips, but thereafter ho and Brown were confide-nt, although the latter gave two very' difficult chances.
