CELEBRATION. IN BRITAIN

LONDON, May 6 Today, the twenty-fourth anniversary of the King's accession, was celebrated quietly. Flags were flown o-i public buildings, and the Te Deum sung at St. 'Paul's'and Westminster The anthem was written for the coronation of James the Second, and a special collect used throughout the country Their Majesties attended" the morii-
ing service in the private chapel at Windsor; They received telephonic congratulations from the Prince of Wales, the Duke of York, and Prince George, while the Duke of Gloucester lunched with his parents. Many hundreds'of messages were received from, all parts of the Empire. The traditional custom was observed -nt the Palace, the • servants assembling and toasting their Majesties in champagne. . Their, Majesties return to Buckingham Palace oh Monday, when a Royal salute of twenty-one guns will be fired in Hyde Park. '
No arrangements have yet been made for special celebrations in the twentyfifth anniversary.
