TIMBER MILL BLAZE
IN WATCHMAN'S ABSENCE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAMILTON, This Day. Damage estimated at between £8000 and £10,000 was done when the Bartholomew Timber Company's mill, plant, and timber stores at To Whetu, eighteen miles from Putaruru, were totally destroyed by fire in the early hours of this morning. The flames destroyed between 100,000 feet and 150,000 feet of rimu. The nightwatchman was temporarily absent from the mill, and on his return the place was a mass of flames. The cause of fire is unknown. • , Fourteen employees are affected.
