By eight votes to six, the Christchurch City Council rejected -a. proposal that permission be;granted for" the playing of. tennis !on city reserves on Sundays. The question was brought-forward by Councillor Lyons, who proposed: "That in the; event of applications being received from tennis clubs for permission to play tennis on Sundays on reserves under the control of the council, the necessary permission lie granted subject to the condition that play be confined to the hours between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m." The decision principally affects the Elmwood Club, which, uses twelve courts in Elmwood Park.
