CARTERTON SALE

: Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., report on the Carterton sale held on Friday as follows:—We submitted a heavy yarding, which comprised 348 pigs, cattle, and 934 sheep, to a large attendance. Although the season is advancing, there is still a keen inquiry for breeding ewes, while lambs also were keenly sought after. With a record entry of pigs, prices naturally eased slightly. All classes of cattle sold readilyj and we made a clearance at the following realisations:—Sheep,- 2th ewes, 255; small 2th ewes, 21s; m.a. ewes, 17s to 18s; fwd. conditioned ewes, 13s, 14s 14s 9d, to 15s 6d; fat ewes, 18s to 19sfwd. w.f. lambs (shorn), 16s 6d,.175, to 17s 8d; w.f. woolly wether lambs, 12s 7d, 13s 6d, 14s, 14s 9d, to 15s 6d; medium w..f. shorn lambs, 11s, 12s, 12s 3d, to 13s; medium woolly ewe lambs, 13s, 14s to 14s sd; b.f-. lambs, 14s, 15s 6d, to 16s 6d; fat b.f. 2ths, 22s 6d; 1-shear Romney rams, 1%, 1%, to 2gs; Southdown rams, 1 to l%j;s. Cattle: Springing cows, £6; weaner heifers, >17s, 20s, 225, 6d, to 265; weaner steers, 20s to 21s; fat cows, £3 10s, £4, to £4 11s; lighter cows, £2 3s, £2 ss, to £2 10s; cows" and calves at foot, £■' 19s to £3 6s; empty cows, 255, 27s 6d, to 325; store cows, 15s, 16s, 17s "6d, to 20spotter bulls (heavy), £3 12s 6d; £4 2s 6d to £4 lls; lighter bulls, £2, £2 ss, to £2 9s.
