SPECIAL TROPHIES AWARDED
Those who visit th^e Easter Show and Industrial Exhibition are surprised at the range and quality of the New, Zea-. land goods displayed.: In y nearly all instances the exhibits, are attractively arrangod, and serve to demonstrate the excellence of local workmanship. ■ A large number of the public attended again last eveuingj which indicates .that the efforts of the Show As-, sbciation to provide Wellington with an up-to : date show are appreciated. Patrons were greatly interested in the new; lay-out, with its rock garden,' tastbfullyarranged tearoom'i' British and 'Australian courts, and the spaciously laid out exhibits of manufacturers generally.' In addition to the. ordinary attractions, of the show tonight there will bo a, physical culture display by members of. the, Jenkins. Physical Culturo Studio.: Tomorrow night .the .second round of the inter-house girls' marching competition will be held.
A feature of the-' shpw this year is the presence of a contingent from the New Zealand Corps of Commissionaires, who are on duty outside the principal displays and act , as, escorts to visitors., • . . ■"■""' ' ' ' ■"' .Winners of, special trophies in the competitive classes /were announced today. They are as follows:—Cookery class, Self Help Challenge Cupy Mrs. J. Fyfe; ' needlework, Victoria Laundry Challenge. Cup, Mrs.. J. Newton; Show Association's Silver Cup, for most points gained in the schools' sec: tion, St. Mark's Church. School. The models classes were judged today,' the following being the results:— SENIOR. General Engineering, Working Marine and Aeroplane Engines.—A. F. Braech, 1; J. Buglass, 2; F.-H. :Schneider; v.h.c^ ''■■ Vertical and Horizontal Stationary Engines or Machinery of. Any Type.—C. W. Flighty, 1; S: Dougall,'2. Railway Locomotives.—F. Roberts, 1; L.. S. K. Murray; 2 and 3. Rolling Stock.—J. Skelly, I and- v.h.c; R. V. Roberts, 2; K. Dickie, 3. ' : Marine, Mechanical Working Models.— K. Dickie, 1; H. J. Williams, 2 and 3. Yachts.—A. G. Baggett.l; J. Williams, 2; R. McKay, 3; —. McGinnity, v.h:c, h.c, and c. . ...... Miscellaneous Section.—MeGinnity., 1; H. J. Williams, 2; H. Knox, v.h.c. JUNIOR. Working Models.—R. A. Bell, 1. , Exhibition.—J.Boyee, 1 and 2; S. Dougall, v.h.c. , The Precision Cup,for the most ingenious model was awarded to M. Rutherford, and the Model Engineering Society's Cup for the best work and the Watson Cup for the best model to A. S. Brasch. In the preserves and pickles class, Mrs. Mullcahy was awarded second prize for the best collection of jellies.
