COUPLE MARRIED IN GAOL
DAY BEFORE LIFE SENTENCE

Mary Ogarek, 23; one of the loveliest women ever tried in Poland) and, Ernest (Jarvaki, 31, were both _• sentenced to life imprisonment by a- military Court for spying on behalf of Germany. The couple wore married1 in' gaol the day before the sentence. They may possibly be exchanged, shortly for Polish agents arrested in Germany. -• ." - ■ The arrest of the couple Avas due to the accidental discovery of a secret i-.upboard in a bedroom in . a leading Warsaw hotel, which Was unknown to the hotelkeeper and staff. Inquiry showed that a succession of Germans had stayed in the room. False papers were substituted for genuine, and when Ogarek and' Gar'vaki'went to the room on different days, they were arrested.
