TROPHIES AT OHINEMURI

Two trophies, each a cabinet of cutlery valued at £25, were, presented by Mr. A. 51.. Samuel, M.P., at .the Ojhinemuri Jockey Club's Meeting last Saturday. One was received by Dr. M. G. Pezaro, partowner with Mr. J. M. Buchanan of Gold Pocket, winner of the Hikutaia Hack Cup, and the other by Mr. A. J, Julian, trainer of Royal Artist, winner of the Ohinemuri Cup Handicap.

Mr. Samuel warmly congratulated both recipients. He mentioned that Dr. Pezaro had owned several racehorses without success, and it was gratifying to know that Gold Pocket, who was purchased only kst Wednesday for GO guineas, had quickly won £115 and a cabinet of cutlery. With regard to Julian, he was known in racing circles throughout the Dominion as "Tartar/ As a jumping rider he won the Great Northern Steeplechase on Loch Fynein 1908, the Great Northern Hurdles on tapper in 1912, and the Grand Kational Hurdles on Tresham in 1902 and Morning in 1913.

In replying, Dr. Pezaro said his win -was ■well overdue. He had owned a number of racing and trotting horses, and this was his first -win with, a galloper. Xo fewer than three of his horses had ended their Careers by breaking their legs.
