LINCOLNSHIRE WINNER
Play Oh, winner of the Lincolnshire, the first big. handicap event of the English flat season, was one bf the-sensations o£ the English Turf last season, for he was successful in seven of his last nine Taces. For the most part "the wins were gained in modest company, but in a mile apprentice race at Newcastle he easily beat the subsequent Manchester November Handicap winner Jean's Dream, and he finished the season by winning a mile and a half apprentice . race/ at Manchester by ten lengths!
Last season Play On was owned and trained by the South African Mr. J. Russell, but, according to the cable message, he is now owned by another South African, Mr. M. I. Simon, whose colours had not previously been carried in England. The cable adds that Mr. Simon paid only £30 for him, but Russell still trains him, so probably there were contingencies attached to the deal. Play On is a four-year-old chestnut gelding by the German stallion Weissdorn from the Pommern mare How's That, and he was bred in England by Mr. Donald Fraser. ■
