ACCIDENTS

Several minor accidents yesterday afternoon and evening resulted in people being taken to the Hospital by the Free Ambulance.

While working at T. Cook and Sons' timber yard on the Hutt Road yesterday afternoon O. Drever, a labourer living at 412 Jackson Street, Petone, hjid the fingers of his right hand lacerated by a band saw. After receiving attention- from Dr. Harding he was taken to the Hospital by the_Ambulance. It was reported today that his hand had been operated on and that he was progressing favourably. . Miss J. Dunphy, who lives at 95 Victoria Street, Lower Hutt, was knocked down by a motor-car near the V.I.C. corner, Lower Hutt, shortly before, 10 o clock last night, and received severe concussion. She was taken by the Ambulance to the Hospital, where she waa reported today to be still unconscious. P. G. Pearce, a wharf labourer living at 75 Aro Street, received injuries to his left foot as the result of being caught by a coal grab while working on the steamer Kaimai about 9 o'clock last night. He was attended by Dr. Gillies before being taken to the Hospital. Another wharf labourer, A. Needham, or 85 Standen Street, received injuries to his back and left hand through, being struck by a tray of fruit while assisting in loading the steamer Cumberland at the Pipitea Wharf about 7 p.m. After receiving attention from Dr. Gillies he was taken home.
