The death occurred at Dunedin last ■neck of ilr. H. C. One .of the best-knowa performers who carried hie colours was Guncase, irith whom he won several hurdle races, and in more recent Umea he also owned the pacer Sansaveno. Air. Motintney was widely kno^n in Central Otago, where' he had held the licence of the Eanfurly Hotel for a number of years. He -was -also the licensee of hotels at Timaru, and for a short period conducted the Bay View Hotel, Dunedin. He was of a quiet and" unassuming disposition, and had a wide circle of friends. He is survived by Mrs. Mount' ney.
