MIRAMAR RELIEF
The annual meeting of the Miramar district unemployment relief committee was held in the Miramar South School on" Monday. The report disclosed that apart from supervising the distribution of goods,' etc., from the Central Belief Committee's allocation each month, the local committee had rendered considerable assistance to the unemployed from money raised by various organisations associated with it, including such items as footwear £12, tea fill, potatoes £12, Christmas cheer £12, fuel, etc. The committee had spent all money as received, with the result that the balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £1 only. After the adoption of the report and balance-sheet the following officers were elected: —Chairman of committee, R. Seddon; hon. secretary and treasurer, P. J. McCarthy; committee, Mesdames Bell, Hayman, and Pritehard, Messrs. T. Condliffe, F. Thomson, L. Russell, 11. Arbuekle, the Rev. Mr. Martin, Ensign Barker. Mrs. Bell was appointed to take charge of the local depot, and was accorded a vote of thanks for services rendered in the past in this direction.
