HEAVY SAFE STOLEN
f,-^ /L ™ZhmS swt was stolen f!°™ Central Meat Auction Mart at 06 Ghnznee Street, last night. The theft was -evidently'the, work of an experienced gang. Entrance was efiectcd through a window facing an alleyway at the side of the premises. Ihe thieves then removed the safe from the accountant's room, and carried it through a side door into the alleyway. It is presumed that the thieves nse'd a motor-vehicle to transport the safe to some place where they could forco it open. The safe contained about £50 in cash, and the books of the company.
Mr. J. M. A. Ilott,' district governor of .Rotary in New Zealand, who is to leave next Tuesday for the United States, where he will attend the international Botary conference at Detroit in June, was fare-welled on behalf of the "Wellington Club at its luncheon today by the president (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood). Mr. Norwood also farewellpd Mr. Hope Gibbons, who will be leaving with Mr. Ilott next week, and will attend_ the Eotary conference if he can fit it in with his business arrange.ments, ■
