FUNERAL SERVICES
MAJOR F. R. BATCHELOR
The funeral service for the late Major F. E. Batchelor was conducted by Commissioner Cunningham in the Vivian Street Citadel on Saturday afternoon. Lieutenant-Colonel Burton and Mrs. Commissioner Cunningham led in prayer, and Mrs. Colonel Orsborn read a Scripture portion descriptive of the righteous man and his reward. "Major Batcholor was held in the highest esteem," said the Commissioner in paying his tribute to him. "He won the affection and confidence of all by what he was and what he did. He devoted himself whole-heartedly and leyalJy to lijs work at the Masterton Home. Ho was a good man and faithful to his trust." i
Adjutant F. Ericson, manager of the Wallaceville Boys 'Home, a close friend of the late Major Batchelor, also paid a warm tribute to him.
A male quartet sang "Tho Christtian's Good Night." Headed by tho Citadel Band, playing slow music, the funeral cortege; proceeded along..Vivian and Cuba Streets to Ghuzneo Street, where cars were taken for Karori Cemetery".
' An impressive memorial service was conducted by Commissioner Cunningham at Mastertou last night, many tributes being paid to tho worth and work of the late Major Batchelor. A letter of appreciation of his services and character was read from the Mayor of Mastorton, Mr. Thomas Jordan.
