BIG KING'S CUP LIST
NOTABLE HORSES ENGAGED
(From "Vedrtte.")
SYDNEY, January 18. Autumn entries this year had added interest in the King's Cup, which will be decided for the second time at Randwick. The list of'nominations totalled 105, and while many are being flattered by their inclusion in such a race, there is some excellent material from all States and from New Zealand..
Kuvera, last year's winner, seems certain to encounter a field of much higher calibre if he starts. Weights are due on February 5, and, providing all goes well with Peter Pan, it is expected'that he will have the maximum weight of 9.5. Naturally last year's Melbourne Cup winner Hall Mark is an entrant, also Rogilla, Game Carriugton, Silver ■ Scorn, Middle Watch, and Lough Neagh. There is a strong three-year-old division apart from Hall Mark, particularly Nightly, the New Zealand colt, and Golden Hair. Blixten, Limarch,. Deputy Ruler, Wheriko, and Break Up are other notables. It will be interesting to see how the handicapper (Mr. G. F. Wilson) grades the three-year-olds and how he assesses them compared with the older horses. .. • ■
The New Zealand, division, in addition to the three-year-olds named, is comprised of old Concentrate, Forestry, Autopay, and Minerval. ,
Nominations for the- Doncaster Handicap and Sydney Cup showed b decrease of .forty compared with last year, but class is well to the fore. Croupier is an interesting Doncaster Handicap entry.. It is noticed that practically all the .Dominion horses are also in at Warwick Farm, which meeting precedes the Easter fixture at; Randwick. Taken all through the entry ,lists both in Sydney and Melbourne augur well for success. ' .
