LIKELY NIGHT RAID COLT
If Night Raid has sired another Phar Lap it may be the colt by him from Zany that made, 750 guineas at the yearling sales last Tuesday. This youngster was the biggest colt that entered the ring, but did not carry any lumber on his frame. The only objection to him was his size,: and the tendency of big horses to go in the wind. He was bought on behalf of Mr. L. K. S. Mackinnon'i chairman of the: Victoria Racing Club, and he will remain in New Zealand till after he is broken ■in.
Zany, the dam of the colt, is a sister'to Thespian, and was got by Absurd from Leta, by Ayr Laddie from Leading Lady, by Grafton from Drama, by Trenton. An earlier offspring of Zany was Tankard, who won the: Avondale Nursery and A.R.C. Musket Stakes before he met "with j a fatal accident.. . Zany's, latest progeny; is inbred to Musket through Spearmint and Trenton, and picks up some more of the same strain through Graf ton. His career will be watched with more than ordinary interest. '
