RESTORING THE CUT
BRICADESMEN'S WAGES
The Wellington Fire Board had before it today a letter from Mr. H. Hanton,; secretary of the Wellington Fire, Brigades Employees' Union, asking the board to consider and provide for the .restoration of minimum wages when framing the next estimates. The board decided to give considera-. tion to the matter when the estimates come under notice. Mr. M. Marks suggested that if the City Council did not restore the cut the board could, not. Mr. S.\S. Dean said that the board did not follow the council. v ' Councillor M.F. Luckie: The council has got .to foot the bill for half tho amount, in effect. The chairman (Mr. N. W. Nelson): You must remember another thing: tho council imposed two cuts, these fellows have only had one.
