HUTT HIGH SCHOOL

FIRST ASSISTANT APPOINTED

Mr. G. J. McNaught, M.A., at present on the staff of the school, was last evening unanimously appointed first assistant of the Hutt Valley High School, and will take the place of Mr. J. N. Millard, 8.A., M.Sc. (Hons.), who was recently-ap-pointed principal of the school. Mr. McNaught was educated at the Wangiinui Technical College and the Otago Boys' High School, obtaining his B.A. degree at the Otago University after having served in the Great War. Mr. McNaught's first appointment was on the staff of Wellington College, where he was housemaster of Firth House, and during'this'time he'took his ALA.'degree. In 1920 he was appointed to the Hutt Valley High School, where he has taken a prominent part in the activities of the school,' being in, charge of cricket, and coach of the first eleven and the first fifteen, and O.C. of the cadet corps. He also manages the concerts given by the pupils. He takes a keen interest in shooting, and was in his cadet days one of twenty New Zealand cadets chosen to visit Canada. Mr. McNaught is president of .the New Zealand Secondary Schools' Association and chairman of the executive of , the HuttFootball Club.

Mr. Millard'was present at last night's meeting of the board for the first time since' his appointment as principal, and was-welcomed by-the members.
