BRIGADE CAMP

AT WAIPUKURAU

Routine 'orders for January issued by the Wellington Regiment 'deal with detailed arrangements for the regiment's annual camp iat Waipukurau from February 10 to 17. A specif course of instruction will be held for officers and nx.o.'s. of -and above, tho rank of sergeant from February, 7 to 10. The main body leaves Wellington for Waipukurau on Saturday, February 10. The camp, which is to be a brigade one, will be one of "the-largest held in the Dominion for some years, with the Wellington Regiment, ■ Hawke's Bay Regiment, Taranaki Regiment, Wellington West-Coast • Regimont, Medical Corps, and men of other units attending. Headquarters of tho regiment have been busy organising. every detail for a comprehensive training scheme, which will not only prove instructive, but also of lively interest to tho Territorials and of benefit to them in their civilian vocations. Medical officers and padres will bo in attendance to care for the welfare of all trainees, and, in addition, the V.M.C.A. will, as usual, lend their appreciated services for the entertainment of all ranks. A. complete pro' gramme of sports events has been ar* ranged, including an athletic meeting, in which inter-unit competitions will be a feature. New kilts and tartan trews will be issued to the .pipe band of the Wellington Regiment in timo for .tho camp. It is hoped to hold a review of the massed bands on the' final day in camp, wHen visitors will be- invited to attend.

The commanding officer of the regiment, Lieutenant-Colonel J. L. Saundcrs, D.5.0., is peeking the co-operation of employers to extend facilities for leave to those attending camp. A special appeal is also being made to business men to give preference to prospective employees who are serving in a Territorial unit.

. There arc still a number bf vacancies in the regiment, and those desirous of attending camp should report without delay to the. adjutant of the regiment, Captain L. W. Andrew, V.C., Drill Hall, Buckle Street. Pay according to rank, free rations, and transport will be granted. In addition to new and better uniforms, Territorials, in the Weihington Regiment are now issued with ! khaki slacks for undress wear, dances j and social functions in addition to the standard issuo tiding breeches.
