(Special to tup "Evening Post.") : NELSON, January 25. Repreafentations are, being made^ to the Government, through Mr.' K. J. Holyoake, M.P:, for assktance t6 tliose tobacco growers' whose crops were damaged by Mondaynight's frost. /Invitations have been sent to the Prime Minister and the Minister of. Agriculture to inspect the dam: age,' but neither; is able to do so oil account of previous engagements*. However, the Hon. Adam Hamilton will be in the district next week, and representations will be made to him on behalf of the growers. Mr. Holyoake has forwarded a letter to the Minister of Ajgriculture outlining the result' of his personal investigations of the damage in Wakefield and the Motueka district as far up as Ngatimoti. Mr. Holy: oake has informed the Minister that'as far as it is possible for him to judge at present, the loss in the crop may amount to approximately. 40 per cent, of the total; and it may be larger. This, when har : vested, dried, and graded, would amount in value to' perhaps £75,000, the largest proportion'of which .would be circulated in wages. Mr. Holyoake informs the Minister that this will, materially affect the unemployment position.1 Almost all the growers fire affected to a greater or lesser degree. iSbmd Of H;he 'crops are totally destroyed, and where growers are dependent upontobaeeo for a livelihood some provision by way of grant or loan.will be asked for.1:
