VINSON CONSTRUCTION BILL

APPROVAL BY COMMITTEE

WASHINGTON, January 23

The Vinson Naval-Construction Bill, providing for 'an expenditure of 38,000,000 dollars, was approved by a unanimous vote of 18 members of tho House Naval Committee. Its early passage is predicted.

During the hearing Representative Britten charged a group within the Navy Department with attempting to block 'development of flying-dock cruisers. Admiral Standley replied that such cruisers were experimental. Ho urged that they first build up the ordinary cruiser strength.
