ROUT OF JUVENILES
DISMISS! TAKES A TURN
The Ilopeful (Stakes Handicap resulted in the third roiit of juveniles at the meeting. On the two earlier occasions Synagogue showed tht flying heels, and yesterday it was Wingatii's representative Dismiss. These two youtgsters proved themselves easily best of <he bandicappers at the meeting. I Dismiss won ftinilarly to Synagogue. He quickly recqvenjd from the early setback of a slow begintiing, and within the first furlong he ran lip along the fence to the front. Thereafter he bade au revoir to the rest, and hb was leading Pin Money by five lengths Sat the post, though Morbiiry had finished fast along the outside
of the track to divide these two horses and to steal the second place" dividend from Pin Money.
The .winner is a chestnut gelding by Paladin from the Markhope mare March Off, and he is. a half-brother to Last March and Grand Finale. He was not at his best for his only previous race at the meeting, but with a few days' spell he was capable, of reproducing his brilliant track speed. In all He. has had only four races yet,, and he has won two of them. He is owned and was bred by Mr. J: P. Herlihy, of Central Otago, who'also races Ventrae, and he is trained by C. Gieseler at Wingatui. Like other members of his ■family he is doubtful in the wind;'otherwise he might not have been raced till later on. , :,
Pin Money, always in pursuit of the winner, should have been second, but his lider (A. X Ellis) did not notice Morbuiy bearing up along the outside rail, and ho loht the other place dividend. Morbury ranic home full of running after being unable to go the pace set early by the leaders, and tho ruse of her rider .(P. JJmgteb) in steering her across to the outer rail hnd-its, fruit. Cup Bearer, who again revealed early pace, was next," followed by Cape Liloi-k and Flaxen. Sweet Music on I his occasion beßairmuch better, but she was, never galloping right.
