Wintry conditions set in over the whole of Great Britain yesterday with a renewal of the gale on the East Coast and showers of sleet, hail, or snow in most partis of the country. Snow in certain parts of Northern England and Scotland impeded road traffic, and during the heavy weather in the North Sea several steamers sought shelter in Bridlington Bay, including the Butch motor-ship Europa, of Groningen, whose compass, wheelhouse, and forecastle were washed away. Several trawlers were in difficulties.
