MRS. KNOX CILMER'S GARDEN

The beautiful garden which surrounds Mrs. Knox Gilmer's "log cabin," at Te Mama, was visited on Saturday afternoon by the otnee-bearers of the Wellington Horticultural Society, of which Mrs. Knox "Gilmer is president. Charming in its unusual setting and artistic design, the garden is. a. delight to flower lovers, aiid patches of colour on terraced slopes have a background of tall trees and native bush. Shrubs of every, variety and rock .plants in abundauco cover the slopes, and narrow cobbled paths with gaily painted bridges across the gaps lead in and out among beds containing all variety of blooms. Rhododendrons make a wonderful show of colour,' and azalea 'bushes massed with flower, irises with their blue and yellow tones, and a pergola covered with roses, give the appearance of luxuriant colour. On Saturday afternoon, Mrs. Knox Gilmer's guests wandered through the garden and the birch grove at the back of the house, and were afterwards given tea indoors. •'.'.'..
