GUIDE FOR 22 YEARS
FAMOUS ROTORUA TWIN
An interesting function was held last week in the Pohutu kiosk, Whakarewarcwa, when the Maori guides of Whaka.rewarewa gave a farewell evening, to Guide- Eileen prior t > her departure for Levin, where she will rejoin her people after an absence, of 22 years (states the "New Zealand Herald"). Guide .Eileen is one of the famous twin guide's of Whakarewarewa, and during her 22 years there has conducted many notable visitors from overseas round the thermal sights. She is now retiring from guiding, and will enjoy, a ■well-earned rest. She has been actively ongaged in Maori concert work all the time she has been at liotorua, and is a well-known performer on the concert stage. On several occasions she toured Australia with Maori concert parties. .
During tho evening, Guido Bella, on behalf of the Whakarcwarcwa guides, presented the guest of the evening with a. handsome china tea set.
Guide Eileen left for. Levin, on Friday morning, and practically all the Maori people of Whakarewarowa wore- present to wish her farewell.
