Davis, a cricketer from Australia, has joined up with the Wellington Cricket. Club, and on batting form at the nets he appears to be a strong contender for a* place in the senior eleven. Cox, one of the Karori Cricket Club's leading players, has transferred to Petone in order to secure senior status. McGayin is a doubtful starter with Karori this season. * Prom Makara enough players have joined up with tho' Karori Cricket Club to form a team, and iv the main they will play in the same eleven. L. V. Browne, formerly of Wellington, performed meritoriously for St. John's in cricket in Napier last Saturday. H. 5.0.8. were striving hard for an innings win over St. John's, but in each innings Browne showed fighting form, so much so in the second innings that he held the fort, making 60 not out while six other batsmen lost their wickets without getting double figures. H. B. Massey made a brilliant beginning in this season's cricket in tho Wairarapa by knocking up 154 of a total of 283 for High School against Red Star. In. a match Nelson College and Old Boys v. Riwaka H. M. McGirr made scores of 36 and 33 not out but did not do much bowling. Freeman, the Nelson College boy, who made his debut in Plunket Shield cricket last season, took six wickets for 37 runs and made scores of 18 and 2 not out. Biggar, the ex-Hutt cricketer jiow playing for Western Park in New Plymouth, helped his side to win by nine wickets last Saturday with a score of 26. O. Nasmith was top scorer for the day in New Plymouth with 47. H. N. Lambert did not get "much result with bat or ball on the opening day of cricket in Hastings. Playing for Whakatu he made six and took one wicket. M. Beuth, for the same team, put up a fine performance with the ball in taking nine wickets for 27 runs." In the final two weeks of the past cricket season in England R. E. S. Wyatt, in seven innings, made 582 runs. He was unbeaten on three occasions, so that his average for the period was 145.5.
