Machine Oil Stains
After a sowing machine has been freshly oiled it is not always possible to avoid a little of the oil staining the articles which are first used on the machine (states a correspondent). After oiling tho machine shouM always be used on an old piece of material in order to "work off" any surplus oil, but if if happens that new material gets spotted tho best way to remove it is to use cotton wool. Press fi piece of the wool tightly over the oil stain arid leave it on for about 15 minutes. After' this time tho oil stain will have licen, absorbed by the cotton wool, leaving the material clean.
Villagers in France still use the old charivari, or scornful serenade, to show their disgust towards what they consider an unsuitable marriage. Following the wedding, thdy surround the home of the couple and beat on tin pans, fireirons, and kettles.
