GROCER FINED £10

NEGLIGENT DRIVING CHARGE

Arising from an accident at the Porirua levol crossing on tho night of Saturday, September 9, when an old motorcar damaged posts and rails on tho cattle stops, three charges were made against the driver, of the car, Ahck Graham Julius, a grocer, of Johnsonville, in ! the Magistrate's Court yesterday. He was charged with being in charge of a car while in a state of intoxication, with driving at a speed which might havo been dangerous, and with driving negligently. Ho pleaded not guilty to all charges. The intoxication charge was dismissed, the dangerous speed charge was withdrawn, and on the charge of negligent driving he was fined £10 and was ordered to make good the damage done, amounting to £2 11s 9d. Senior-Sergeant D. Scott conducted the prosecution, and Mr. A. B. Siev•wright represented. Julius.
