FIGURES IN OTHER CENTRES
(By. Telegraph.—Press. Association.) : t AUCKLAND, September 31V ' A continued increase in revenue from Customs thiti.es is shown in the returns for September. The Customs revenue for the month, was £185,874, bringing the total for the nine months of this year to £1,605,365, compared with. £1,407,268 for the corresponding period of 1932.' Motor spirit duty yielded during the month. "£39,453, compared with £.36,885 in September of last year. This, brings the total for tho nine months period of 1933 .to £347,894,•■which is £10,688 more than for the same period of- last year. • The duty on tires* returned in September £1926, which is £2 less than in the same month, of 1932, but the total collected from this source this yoar is only £14,832, as against £17,510 last year. Excise duty on beer during September was £9620, an increase of £1242, making a total of £91,047 for the nine months; Since its inception the sales tax has returned £268,384, of which £44,370 was collected last month. CHRISTCHUKCH, September 30. Guatoms returns for September are as follows, the 1932 figures following:— Customs, £65,490, £59,641; motor spirit tax, £15,654, £16,589; beer duty, £6983, £6486; sales tax. £21,191. For tho quarter ended. September 30:—Customs, £188,015, £195,701; motor spiiit tax, £46,597, £45,987; beer, £18,575, £19,982; sales tax, £58,520. DUNEDIN, September 30. Returns for tho month of September, with figures for September,, 1932, following, are: — Customs, £50,311, £47,447; beer, £18,888, £19,117; petrol, £11,514,- £11,332; tires £582. £264; sales tax £18,101. Returns for tho past quarter are:— Customs, £148,528, £148,324; beer, £53,658, £50,094; petrol, £34,044, £33,65.9; tires, .£llBO, £1145; sales tax, £50,076. Returns for tho past nine months are:—Customs, £448,327, £427,425; beer, £158,868, £165,540; tires, £112,964, £108,493; petrol, £5480, £5303; sales tax, £103,242 for six months.
