PLAYS AND DANCING

RONCOTAI COLLEGE

Under tho auspices of tho ■ ladies' auxiliary of the Parents' Association of Rongotai College, a successful evening was held in the college hall on Saturday in aid of the college funds, about 120 parents and friends being present.

Two one-act plays entitled "The Odd Streak" and "The Minuet" were presented by Miss Ahern's Dramatic Party, the parts being taken by. Miss Ahem, Mrs. Herbert, Misses Fagan, Lindegaard, Berry, Barker, and Mr. Cathie. ■ \ ' Mrs. Burge (president) on behalf I.' the auxiliary presented Miss' Ahem with a posy.

The plays were interspersed with songs by Mrs. Booth, accompanied by Mr. J. Todd MeCaw and Mr. O'Brien, accompanied by Miss E. Kay. Home-made supper was served in the assembly room by the ladies' auxiliary, .the tables being tastefully decorated with spring flowers and foliage. Mrs. Burge (president of the auxiliary) made a presentation of a handsome crystal rose bowl to Mrs. Ballard (late secretary) on behalf of the members. A presentation was also made by Mr. G. W. Scott (president of the Parents' Association) to Mrs. E. S. Wogan (hon. secretary of tho association for the last three years) of a leather attache case, on behalf of the executive of the association and the staff of the college. Mr. F. Martyn Renner (principal of the college) spoke in very high terms of the efficiency of both ex-officers and their unfailing energy in connection with the welfare of the college activities.

The latter part of the evening was spent in competitionsl and dancing, the dance music being provided by Messrs. P. Ballard, L. Cording, and D. Earl. Mr. A.'B.'Farquhar acted as stage manager and M.C.
